Re: Audacity 1.2.6
Start off with a read of this set of Tutorials: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Tutorial_-_Copying_tapes,_LPs_or_minidiscs_to_CD Especially this one: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Recording_with_USB_turntables And I would strongly recommend updating to Audacity 1.3.12 - you can get it from h...

Re: keyboard shortcuts for Fade In/Out
Well a big +1 from me Ed wrote this in response to a remark I made on another thread recently - I would love to have such a facility integrated into Audacity. For those of us who use Audacity to transcribed LPs & tapes the three most common effects used are Fade-in, Fade-out and Amplify - and th...

Re: ART USB Dual PRE
Well the ARTCessories USB Phono Plus V.2 (for use with TTs rather than mics) works well with Audacity - see http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=9477 So I would supsect that the ART device you are enquiring about will work similarly well. Update: page 2 of that thread has a good re...

Re: Win 7 crash.
And it confirms my belief that I dont want Windows-7 with my UA-1EX - so I agree that your testing has been useful. I will update the review on the sticky thread about soundcards- see: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 580#p38580

Re: Noise Reduction, a Judgement Call
Trebor, is this the effect that thay seem to be using on the songs in the "Glee" TV programme? I'm just curious.Trebor wrote:There is also the Cher/ T-pain extreme autotune effect ... http://www.gvst.co.uk/gsnap.htm (but that effect is a bit old hat).

Re: Creating an audio CD best method
See: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Burn ... es_to_a_CD
And you'll probably need this too (assuming you will want navigational tracks breaks as on a commercial CD): http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Spli ... ate_tracks

Re: Balancing volume
What you're after is called Dynamic Compression or Dynamic Range Compression. There is a tool for that in Audacity but most folk seem to favour an external too (which can be used as a plugin to Audacity IIRC) called Chris' Compressor (or Chris' Dynamic Compressor) - see http://pdf23ds.net/software/d...
