Re: noise/static removal

James, and in answer to your original question, I forgot earlier that we have this advice in one of the tutorials in the manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Sample_workflow_for_LP_digitization#Clean_the_LP It's usually best to clean the LPs before capture, rathe than trying to remove all the ...

Re: noise/static removal

I've also found that many click/pop removal tools work best when applied to small sections at a time....highlighting only the glitch for repair can mean less overall signal degredation. Actually, Brian's ClickRepair does just that for you. It works through the audio looking for event spikes which a...

Re: sound distortion

See this article in the Wiki: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/USB_turntables

I would recommend you to upgrade to the latest Audacity 1.3.12 (and look out for 1.3.1.3 which is due out soon) - you can get it from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/

Re: recordings get lost

The Preference that bites people most often is "Select all audio in project if none selected". It is under Preferences > Tracks. Turn it off and you will never accidentally delete your entire project. -- Bill A big +1 to that suggestion Why on earth that risky setting is the default one b...

Re: noise/static removal

I use Brian Davies' ClickRepair to clean off the pops and clicks. It costs a little ($40) but is only a little shy of magical in the results it produces. See this sticky thread: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1994 What I do is record with Audacity, export a WAV, feed this WAV...

Re: Converting cassette tapes to audio CD

I found it tedious having to play through each song to get the cursor line to the end of the song as indicated by a bit of flat line and silence, so I could CTRL-M to mark and title it as the end of the previous song. There must be a way to quickly move the cursor line to just before the flat line,...

Re: audacity error

A USB hub is just a gadget which has lots of USB input ports and one USB output to connect to a computer that doesn't have enough USB ports. Audacity doesn't like to play with such devices usually.

Re: audacity error

Most likely is a bad USB lead or USB connection. Can you change the USB lead or is it hardwied into your UFO202? You're not using a USB hub are you?
