Re: aup file is a audio file?

see this page in the manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Audacity_Projects And yes Audacity does work with lossless audio - but note carefully that if you import a compressed MP3 or AAC then the project will still carry the compression damage that was inflicted when the compressed file was ma...

Re: Turntable problem

That's not an Audacity fault - it's afault with the auto-stop/auto-lift mech. on your turntable. You will need to read the TT's manual to find out how to adjust it.

Re: Transferring vinyl to digital

Could be a bad USB connection or lead. Try wiggling the plug (gently) in the USB socket, or unplug it and re-plug it, or try another USB socket - and don't use a USB hub.

You should do this before restarting Audacity rather than while Audacity is running.

Re: SELECTION PROBLEM THAT'S DRIVING ME MAD!

Don't worry - you're not the first person that has accidentally turned on snap-to - and you certainly won't be the last :) Audacity has a complex interface for the cleverer stuff (so this makes for a few bear-traps for the unwary) - somewhat disguised by the simplicity of the basic GUI which should ...

Re: Deleting Recent Files

I don't think you can - you can delete the .aup file and its associated data folder - but this has to be done by hand as there is no Delete Project function in Audacity. IIRC there is an outstanding feature request to provide one.

Re: Very muffled sound - basic help needed

Use 1.3.12 (and look out for 1.3.13 when it comes out shortly)

See this set of tutorials in the 1.3/2.0 manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Tuto ... iscs_to_CD

and this one: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Samp ... gitization

Re: orphaned files, imported audio

maxwell I can't replicate this on Windows XP-HE-SP3 - Audacity 1.3.12 I carefully worked through your example albeit with some minor differences: a) My iTunes version is 10.1.2.17 (and there is a later version 10.2.1.1 which I was advised of yesterday but haven't downloaded yet) b) I have my Export ...
