Re: Converting long multi-track file into many single-track

... doing an Export Multiple after doing Silence Finding sometimes results in the first and/or last track not being exported because it 'thinks' a track is bracketed by silence but a multi-track file may not begin and end with anything more than a millisecond of silence. IMHO, it would be smarter f...

Re: Converting long multi-track file into many single-track

... The referred-to page makes mention of Silence Finder and even shows its dialogue window but it doesn't say *how* to get there ... kds, the page I pointed you out has the header "Analyze Menu" and as such it is implicitly trying to say that all the analysis tools are available from the...

Re: Version 1.2.6

I may be wrong but I think the problem is not in the 1.2.6 but in the computer. Some Windows drivers often act differently and this is the reason. For me now it works. But for audacity research you may want to know where six of the nine drivers in the mixer box disappeared or if they were accidenta...

Re: Ubuntu 10.10 USB audio driver

Have you got the USB device plugged in before firing up Audacity? Yop need to do that.

See this page in the manual for further help: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Reco ... turntables
althogh it's nominally about USB TTs the information applies to other USB audio devices too.

Re: Converting long multi-track file into many single-track

Audacity already has silence finder and sound finder functions - see down the page in this entry from the Audacity 1.3 manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Analyze_Menu You will need to use 1.3 for this as I don't believe that 1.2 had these features. And note that it doesn't always work as you...

Re: Recurring Recording Schedule

There is already a Feature Request for this in the Audacity Wiki - see: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Featu ... hancements

Would you like me to add your vote for this?

Re: Install audacity as administrator for multi-user usage?

Yes you do need to install it as an administrator.

Each user (with their own log-in) will see Audacity effectively independently as each will get their own set of Audacity Preferences in their user file-space.

See http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Preferences

Re: Problem with F1

Are you trying to mark particular points in the Audio track? Audacity doesn't support markers as such (ones that you can place on the track itself) - but you can do similar by using labels: 1) To mark the current playing or recrding position use CTRL+M 2) To mark the current cursor position use CTRL...

Re: Audacity export

You can set your iTunes so that it converts your WAVs to MP3. In iTunes go to Edit> Preferences and click on the Genreral tab (or General icon - if you have the latest iTunes). Next to the dropdown titles "When you insert a CD" is a button that says Import Settings . Click on this button e...

Re: Moving forward

1.3.13 should be out soon (possibly this week) as the latest Beta - the latest 1.3.13 Alphas have proved pretty stable and mainly bug-free. 1.3.12 and 1.3.13 are both a vast improvement over the now ancient 1.2.6. There will be no 1.4 - the team is going to make 2.0 the next formal release as there ...
