Re: Bit and Sampling rates - Real or Imagined?
I don't know wher you'r based - but Dolphin Music in Liverpool seems to have them in stock; http://explore.dolphinmusic.co.uk/search?p=Q&w=ua-1g I bought by phono preamp and my UA-1EX from them by phone/post - excellent service. and in the US Amazon.com seems to have some: http://www.amazon.com/...

Re: Bit and Sampling rates - Real or Imagined?
You may have to go for the Cakewalk UA-1G which is the replacement device that the manufacturer (Roland) produces. There are still some of the older UA-1EXs out there for sale if you seek them out. Edirol/Roland tech. support assured me that the UA-1G is almost exactly the same as the UA-1EX - they ...

Re: Clean old cassette audio
Enough to warrant a 20% increase in processing time? Yes. -- Bill +1 Consider the material here - it is an irreplaceable family archive recording. The tapes are old and will not last forever, the recording decaying slowly over time anyway. In this application I expect that users would value the bes...

Re: Clean old cassette audio
@SweatCoder - why are you working with MP3 files - these are compressed files designed f or use on portabel music machines - bad for editing/processing as some of the audio has already been removed in the MP3 compression process. Do you by any chance have uncompressed (e.g. WAV or AIFF) files? Or do...

Re: Bit and Sampling rates - Real or Imagined?
Click removal is a process that will benefit from leaving Audacity's default Quality setting of 32-bit as it is... I believe true if using Brian's ClickRepair too. The first part of my workflow is: 1) capture one side of LP - Audacity @32-bit 44.1kHz 2) Export a 32-bit WAV file 3) Process this thro...

Re: Bit and Sampling rates - Real or Imagined?
I too am surprised that you did not like the UA-1EX and suspect, like Steve suggested, that you may have had a duff one. Originally I ran mine in 16-bit mode as I had it in its standard mode using the default windows drivers. Latterly (at the request of Gale Andrews who wanted me to do some testing)...

Re: "missing audio data" too often!
But the developers will want such testing done on the latest Beta 1.3.13 - so whbjr it would help if you upgraded to 1.3.13 to help the devs. try to track down this elusive bug. It is one of the key bugs that is preventing the developers getting to a RC (Release Candidate) for v2.0 of Audacity. Than...

Re: How to change input level for Behringer UCA202
The user could replace the UCA-202 with the Edirol UA-1EX (or its successor the Cakewalk UA-1G) - they both have hardware gain controls on-board which can attenuate the signal.

Re: can't play back
When you plug in a USB device like this your computer hands over control of all sound services to the USB device - both input and output. Since your USB device doesn't have a set of speakers, you then don't get any sound from the computer (not even the normal computer sounds). All you need to do is ...
