Re: Recording Problems from Audio tape to Audacity
Have you cleaned your tape heads and the transport mechanism (the pinch roller and capstan. It may help to de-Gauss (de-magnetize) your heads if you have a tool for doing that. Check the cables that you are using to connect the tapedeck to the computer and clean the plugs - use a little alcohol (Vod...

Re: I want to record from a walkman
Have a look at this set of tutorials from the manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Tutorial_-_Copying_tapes,_LPs_or_minidiscs_to_CD Don't be tempted to used the Mic-in on your PC from a line-level device like your Walkman - the mic input is expecting a much lower level signal and thus you may ...

Re: Very low input volume from ION USB turntable
When I had an ION iTTUSB I ran it with the gain control on max all the time. And yes everybody agrees its a stupid place to put the gain control - for a start it would be very unwise to try and use it while a record is playing. But al least the ION manual that I had did mention the gain control and ...

Re: Very low input volume from ION USB turntable
The ION TT that I used to have had a harware gain control (volume knob) - but it was located in a non-bvious and very un-ergonomic position - underneath at the back of the TT (where the cables exit the device).

Re: Newbie question or two
But their record company would, as would the outfits that collect royalties (the PRS in the UK) - so just be careful what you write on an open public forumimaginedtruth wrote: ... that band never released that cover on iTunes or on CD, so I wouldn't consider it piracy...

Re: Bit and Sampling rates - Real or Imagined?
And thanks from me too Steve - I recall now that you've told me before about the 16-bit PortAudio limitation before - but it obviously didn't lodge in my over-stuffed brain
Summary: my Edirol is obviously running in its Advanced mode at 16-bit mode with Audacity

Re: Bit and Sampling rates - Real or Imagined?
In your Apr 15 posting you say that you are using the 24 bit setting on the Edirol and exporting to Audacity direct at 32bit float. Is this possible in Audacity ver.1.3.12 ? I had understood from another post that it had to be done by exporting with the software that comes with the Edirol and then ...

Re: Bit and Sampling rates - Real or Imagined?
I spoke to Roland UK today and they confirm that the UA-1G is a recently discontinued product. They said it is scheduled to be replaced in May 2011 by the UA-11 Duo-Capture - see: http://www.roland.co.uk/products/productdetails.aspx?p=1155 The price in the UK is set to be UK£79.00 - i.e the same pri...
