Re: Cancelled Export, Most of Project is Lost as Silence
... I will save my project before recording in the future, and export as wav instead of mp3 for the unedited version. And not canceling exports A good plan :) I can definitely see that cancelling the export could've destabilized things - that'd be my bet for what the cause was... That would be my g...

Re: Nothing is working
Well I'm stumped :? The only thing I can think of is that you may have run into a project size limitation (it's been a while since I used 1.2 so I can't remember its operational details too well). The biggest problem that you have is that auto-recovery in 1.2 is pretty poor, mailnly manual - but it ...

Re: Adding L and R channels together ???
... I have been transferring old mono lps to audacity to transfer eventually to CD. I have used the stereo option in preferences and it is obvious the two channels are not identical - on any lp sometimes one is slightly stronger and sometimes the other. (may be in future I should use the mono optio...

Re: Adding L and R channels together ???
... I have done a lot of successful click removal using the 'draw' tool ... Just noticed this bit - that That's very hard manual labour - I know I've done it myself in the past with 1.2. In 1.3 the developers introduced a new effect called Repair whicch will fix up to 128 samples by interpolating f...

Re: Adding L and R channels together ???
AFAIK there isn't a tutorial in the Wiki or the manual for this - but I can give you a workflow recipe (and note: I'm sure there are other ways of doing this). 1. Use Audacity 1.3 x (latest is 1.3.13) not the ancient 1.2 series - get it from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ 2. Make recording ...

Re: Nothing is working
Are you in Pause mode? You need to be in Stop mode for the Exports to be availabel (i,e, un-greyed).
I should have though of the simpler explanation first

Re: Nothing is working
Have you run out of free usable disk space? If so you may be able to rexcue this recording if you hace an external USB disk with plenty of free space as you may be able to: 1) Export the project as a WAV to the USB disk. 2) Close Audacity 3) Delete the project (if you Saved it under a project name -...

Re: Adding L and R channels together ???
You may find that just using the Normalize effect will do the trick for you. In Audacity Normalize works on each channel of a stereo pair separately to bring the amplifitude level of each channel to a required level (the default is 0 dB, but I recommend choking it back a little to say -2.0 dB). This...

Ok Shaky, I've now updated the Wiki too. See: 1) the end of Step 5 in: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Transferring_tapes_and_records_to_computer_or_CD#Setting_up_Audacity 2) and this from the section on USB turntables: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/USB_turntables#Recordings_too_loud_or_soft 3...
