Why do you need to use the draw tool anyway, is there a particular reason?
For me it is largely superseded by the Repair effect which will fix/redraw up to 128 selected samples by interpolating from neighbouring waveforms.

You can also set the Show Clipping indicators where you will get red vertical lines displayed in the waveform where clipping occurs (actullay when the recording level clips OR just reaches 0dB which is technically not clipping ). The clipping indidicators are available from the View menu. I just lea...

1.3.13 is the recommended version for W7
1.2.x is not the "simpler" version. It is the now-ancient version of Audacity that doesn't work properly on a lot of modern computing platforms. 1.2 is now longer updated or repaired, nor has it been for a very long time.

The metadata that you see when playing a "normal" CD (commercial or home-made) is normally provided externally over t'interweb - and is not carried on the CD itself. The player s/w interrogates an online database, usually Gracenote CDDB (the same database that iTunes uses when you rip a CD...

The "big brother" of the cheapie UCA-202 is the Edirol UA-1EX, now superseded by the Cakewalk UA-1G. It is a similar size so very portable but it has two hardware gain controls in and out and in addition to to the RCA inputs it also has a digital input - with the UA-1G they also added a gu...

I think you really have to thank BillW for that - he did all the hard work writing that page.
