Re: Which Cable?

Should work fine, just be aware that extra plug-plug connections can induce a little extra noise. Di male sure that plags and sockets are are as clean as possible before plugging the leads and adapters together (a little alcohol - vodka works fine and then wipe dry with a clean lint-free cloth). And...

Re: Stereo Mix not working

I'm not a Skype user myself, but I recall from reading other posts on the forum taht it can be tricky to capture both sides of a Skype call. IIRC the recommended solution is to purchase TotalRecorder for the cpature and then use Audacity for your editing. You can get TR from here: http://www.highcri...

Re: Chain Amplify to Accept Peak Amplitude Parameter

From 1.3.14 (currently Alpha only - but hopefully Beta soon) Normalize will optionally work with linked stereo channel pairs, raising the amplitude by the same amount thus preserving the stereo balance.

So when 1.3.14 Beta is out this FR can be accomplished with chains and Normalize.

Re: Timer question

As Gale says, but rather than manually placing the one-hour markers, use instead the Analyze > Regular Interval Labels... function BTW make sure you've got a lot of free disc space - 8 hours of projects plus 8 hours of exported WAVs chews up an awful lot of disc space, especially if you are working ...

Re: reduce size of mp3 files

When I bough my first iPod I did some extensive listening tests (on speakers and good Sennheiser over-ear studio headphones). Even with my aging ears I could easily detect the 128-192 difference, I could just about hear the 192-256 difference - but I could not detect 256-320-WAV difference. At the t...

Re: Noise while transferring via USB

Does the ION TT have a gain control (volume control)? When I had one a while back mine did but it was in a non-obvious position and awkward to use - located under the deck at the back, where the cables exit the deck. Or maybe has Microsoft updated the USB device drivers for you in an auto update? WC

Re: Audacity adds unwated "swishy" backgroun noise

This tutorial from the manual may help you: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Recording_78rpm_records In particular see the section on "Filtering & noise removal". Even though you're not working direct from the 78s the notes in this section still apply. And yes, I've noticed that the ...

Re: High Distortion on recording levels

with many USB TTs in Audacity it is not possible to adjust the amplitude with Audacity's input slider - if this is the case for you then it is the fault of your TTs driver software. It may be worth seeing if the manufacturer has updated drivers available on their website. Some USB TTs have hardware ...
