Yes it does point to the cable or a faulty on-board soundcard/USB services in the ION TT. I hope you kept the receipt as it may be a "return to vendor" for a replacement.

I am saving all the music to a new 2 Tb external drive. Audacity resides on the C: drive, which last I checked has around 30% free space.
