Re: Audacity Doesn't Work
Does that mean you kinda strongly feel it may be a problem with Audacity? It could be down to your Preferences settings - get 1.3 loaded and running and then we can ta a "look under the hood". Maybe I'd be better with a username to maintain a little anonymity. So if you can change it perh...

Re: Problems recording with UA 1G
Just curious, what do you use for your in an out? The RCA inputs on my UA-1EX are fed from my passive switch (a Skytronic) to enable me to easily swap between my turntable and my FM tuner without unplugging/re-plugging. The only output I use is the USB lead to the PC - I have Audacity set to target...

Re: Audacity Doesn't Work
For a start, do yourself a big favour and upgrade to the latest Beta 1.3.13 (it's now a very mature Beta, stable and works well on both my XP machines). You can get it frtom here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ Then have a read of this set of tutorials from the manual: http://manual.audacityteam....

Re: Ringing Noise
Richard, now that I know you are only working on one particular recording, you can get to use Brian Davies' tools effectively for free, as he offers a 21-day free trial of his software. In addition to ClickRepair he has an other packge DeNoise and DeNoise LF (all three can be downloaded for the free...

Re: Problems recording with UA 1G
Are you using your UA-1G in its Standard mode - in which case the generic USB drivers should work or in its Advanced mode - in which case you should need the Cakewalk/Roland drivers (which you should be able to download from their website) I have the predecessor device the UA-1EX and it runs quite h...

Re: Ringing Noise
As Doug says, but ... Vinyl clicks & pops are especially tricky. Yes, especially tricky - but handled excellently (magically almost) by ClickRepair , a piece of software written by Australian mathematician Brian Davies. It costs a little at $40 but is well worth it if you have more than a few LP...

Re: Preferences in 1.2.6
As far as I recall in 1.2.x Audacity does not remeber any moved toolbar positioning. 1.3 certainly does.

Re: troubleshoot saving
Glad we got you sorted. Personally I have never figured out why the developers ever went to the bother of greying out the "Save" command until editing changes have been made - it's only more programming and thus more "stuff" that can go wrong. And what's more it confuses newbie u...

Re: Noise while transferring via USB
2) ... The only connection between the turntable and the computer should be the USB connection - the analogue outputs from the turntable can be connected to an amplifier, but should not normally be connected to the computer. And if you do not have the RCA plugs connected to an amp do make sure that...
