Re: Problems recording with UA 1G

Your input device looks fine as the USB device. For the output device I would target the Realtek directly. And can you select Windows Direct Sound as the host rather than MME.

Re: saturating volume spikes in ANALYSER

If you want best-in-class click/pop removal from vinyl try Brian Davies' excellent ClickRepair- it costs a little but is well worth it in terms of time save and becauuse of just how well it works. See this sticky thread: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1994

Re: How to importing mp3

It's almost certainly not an Mp3 (more likely an MP4/AAC from iTunes?). Audacty 1.2 does that wwith files it can't support - 1.3 at least gives you an error message. There is extended audio file support in 1.3 if you also load the Ffmpeg library. You can get 1.3 from here: http://audacityteam.org/do...

Re: how to save a recording process after timer recording

Actually you can either Save the Audacity Project or Export an audio file for use in other software and players - see thsi article from the 1.3 manual which explains about projects and save versus export: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Audacity_Projects There is a longstanding feature request to...

Re: No effects when recording with multi effects processor?

No, as Steve says above Audacity will record whatever is sent to the PC dry or processed. Without knowing how you've configured the effects processor and what its outputs are it would hard for us to ascertain. The reason that Steve has suggested an external soundcard is that you are taking a line-le...

Re: Sufficient volume when recording

UPDATE: it is only in 1.3.14 (currenly Alpha, not yet released in Beta, though expected soon) that the Normalize function has been fixed. So for now, if you are using 1.3.13 continue to use the Amplify function. Personally, even with Normalize fixed in 1.3.14 I find myself still preferring to use th...

Re: Missing Data on .aup and exported .mp3

No help for the current project - but I would always make sure that you create and use a separate file area on your disk to work with and store your Audacity projects. The desktop is one of the worst places to use to store files. I have a folder for Audacity projects, sun folders for input source LP...

Re: good midi files for songs like New Gold Dream

(you would think with today's technology some sort of software could take apart songs) Some posters on the forum have likened it to taking the chocolate out of a chocolate cake or the milk out of a cup of tea/coffee. Once the tracks have been mixed down ito a stero pair it can be next to impo...

Also try cleaning the tape transport mechanism, the capstan and the pinch roller - over the years the tend to acquire deposits shed from the tape.
