Re: what you hear recording

Sometimes "what you hear recording" (AKA "Stereo Mix") is not available in Win 7 ...l On my wife's new W7 laptop there was no way to record what was playing on the computer with Audacity - the option was totally missin, not even hidden asSteve says is sometimes is. Her workaroun...

Re: Problems recording with UA 1G

Windows 7 64 bit First thing to sort out is: can Windows see your USB device - i.e. is it one of the recording devices that is available for input? You should be able to see this from Control Panel > Hatdware & Sound > Sound in W7 ok. so then let's start with a simple test. With the UA-1G conne...

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DIP_switch

The dip switches on your UA-1G are the little 2-position switches on the bottom of the device which are used to configure it.

What settings do you have there?

Re: audio track shrinks vertically, how do I unshrink?

There doesn't seem to be a way to select one track and have it fill the screen with a shortcut keystroke. There is a Pending Feature Request that I transfrerred to the Audacity Wiki earlier this month for exactly that: Keyboard short-cut for expanding tracks at max .: When creating new tracks, the ...

Re: Problems recording with UA 1G

ok lets start with the UA-1G what settings do you have made on the dip-switch settings on the base of your UA-1G (confsuingly for me I can see from the brochure that the dip-switch interface on yor 1G is different from my 1EX - and I can't see an online manual for the 1G for more detail)? What setti...

Re: audio track shrinks vertically, how do I unshrink?

At the bottom of the (now shrunken) Track Control Panel at the left of the track you should see a little-downward-pointing-grey-triangle - just click on te to expand the track.

Re: Saving a project, data folder

See: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Audacity_Projects The files are the little snippets of audio and any changes that you make so it is likely that a project file/folder will be greater size than the sum of the WAVs. And no you don't need to save the project - I never do when I am transcribing v...

Re: Glitching randomly through recordings

... Now im wondering if there is a way to change the speed right down to about 5 instead of the normal 33, possibly by twisting an onboard pot somewhere with a screwdriver? Even if you could I wouldn't do that - see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Higher_speed_transfers Although this is targete...

As Steve says - and no you won't lose your iTunes files either (unless you move or delete them).

Re: Glitching randomly through recordings

Ok so you are recording your project on to an external 2TB drive (I'm guessing). Big it might be but it is unlikely to be fast enough to keep up with the exacting demands of audio capture in real time. If the disk isn't quite ready for writing as the audio comes by that bit of audio gets lost. So re...
