Re: recording BBC radio 3 live HD broadcasts - how?

Clive, the link that Steve pointed you at is a useful one - but I have just noticed that you are using Windows 7 on a laptop. Many modern platforms are making it harder or impossible to record what is playing on the computer (in an attempt to thwart piracy) - W7 tends to be one of those. It's one of...

Re: recording BBC radio 3 live HD broadcasts - how?

Note that BBC radio transmissions are likely to be subject to copyright restrictions. But I also note that the BBC have been more than careless with many valuable items that they broadcast in the past - often by wiping over or simply losing tapes - to the extent that they actually broadcast request...

Re: How to cut mp3 track with a fade out ending?

Yup, you can select the bits you don't want and Delete them and thes use Effect > Fade Out to make the fade on what remains. Just be aware that you will increase the MP3 compression damage by doing this with Audacity as you will need to export a uasable MP3, so a second round of compression will tak...

Re: Problems with Levels

The slider is greyed out as the USB device (and its associated software drivers) takes control of the sound services. If you are lucky your ION will have a hardware gain control (volume knob). When I had an ION iTTUSB it had one, but it was located in an unobvious and inconvenient location underneat...

Re: Adware bundled with Audacity

What I suggest you do is to remove all versions of Audacity that you currently have downloaded, run a thorough virus scan of your computer with a good tool that spots and removes viruses and trrojans - and then download Audacity from the sourceforge site: http://audacityteam.org/download/

Re: Adware bundled with Audacity

If you download your Audacity from the proper site http://audacityteam.org/download/ there should be absloutely no adware. Be aware that there are rogue sites on the internet that distribute copies of Audacity and I suspect that they may be responsible for infecting your computer. For example the fi...

Re: Problems recording with UA 1G

Glad you finally got it working dustball. And this is me "writing this down" for future reference - who'd have thought you'd have to go to those lengths. I'm guessing that it all had something to do with two USB devices (the UA-1G and the SL/Rane) conflicting with each other (but I'm not t...

Re: Can't copy/paste sometimes?

Are you in Pause mode rather than Sop mode when that happens by any chance?

Effects and other editing stuff don't work when the playback is just paused.
