Re: Splitting recordings into separate tracks
What format are the music files that you have - are they compresses like MP3 say or do you by any chance still have the WAV files? You can work with either but if you only have compressed MP3s then you will get additional MP3 compression damage when you re-export at the end of the process. In contra...

Re: How Do I Get Rid Of The Median Line When I Edit A Record
Thanks for that info, I've been using Audacity 1.2 for a few years and the line is not on that version, only on the 1.3 Beta. Well that's interesting - I'd never noticed that. I checked on the old 1.2.6 and 1.2.5 versions that I still have -and noblack line. The oldest 1.3 I have is 1.3.5 and yes t...

Re: Monitoring While in Audacity
...To monitor what I actually recorded in Audacity, I convert to say MP3 or Wave, listen, and note where edits need be made. Then, return to the Audacity file to edit. Any ideas on how to monitor the Audacity file directly and make edits on the spot? Sorry, I should have read your post more careful...

Re: How Do I Get Rid Of The Median Line When I Edit A Record
I don't think you can, it's part of the Audacity interface, the developers wrote the waveform display to show that way. The only way would be to hack the Audacity code for yourself and produce your own compiled version of Audacity. BTW the black line is there all the time, it's just that at the defa...

If so, see this FAQ from the manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ:Recording#USB this one may help too: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ:Recording#Why_can.E2.80.99t_I_hear_what_I.E2.80.99m_recording.3F WC

Re: audio position aka time codes
Label tracks do indeed form part of the Audacity project and are stored with the project when the project is Saved @jady - just be aware that Audacity projects are quite complex and sending them to others can be difficult if you don't know what you are doing. This page from the 1.3 manual should hel...

Re: Split stereo amplify
Although most of the vinyl I'm copying is in decent shape even new records have clicks and pops. I'd be very interested in any tutorials you may have on how to clean these things up. My favourite tool for this is ClickRepair, it costs a litlle but is well worth it - it produces almost magical resul...

Re: Split stereo amplify
I think the tutorial that Koz was referring to was this one from the 1.3 manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Sample_workflow_for_LP_digitization BTW Normalize will change after 1.3.14 (currently only in Alpha release) and onwards. A new option has been added which enables Normalize to either ...
