Re: Playback volume issues
I'm guessing that you mean "perceived loudness" rather than actual loudness - many commercial recordings are engaged in a loudness war to make the CDs and on;ine recourdings to "sound" loud. If this is the case than you need to use a compressor - Audacity has one of these, the be...

Re: EXTREME noise issues when converting from cassette
For a start do yourself a big favour and upgrade to the latest Audacity 1.3.14, whivh you can get from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ 1.2 is now ancient and has not been updated or maintained for years. And have a work through of this set of tutorials from the 1.3 manual: http://manual.auda...

Re: Odd behaviours on joining and splitting stereo tracks
This thread grew from, and intertwined with, a simpler feature request thrad started by Koz reagarding the L&R labelling of the channels of a stereo pair: "Waveform display: Minor Graphic Change". I have turned that FR into a full proposal on the Wiki (and extended that proposal to inc...

Re: Audible Click at Beginning of Every New Track
By "older" Koz means Audacity 1.3.13 and all ealier Audacity versions.
Normalize was changed (for the better) in the recent 1.3.14 release - see the documentation for the latest version: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Normalize

Re: Can't record from Tape USB device
... my music is not playing back when I try listening to it. I am using the Audacity 1.2.6 and I see a wave when the music is being recorded. This is because XP thinks that when you plug a USB sound device like this that you want both the input and out sound services to be directed to your USB devi...

Re: Can't record from Tape USB device
I can't find an online manual for this device on t'interweb - and only very cursory technical specs. - but it looks like a basic low-end USB tape device, so the instructions in the tutorials I listed above should be fine to get you going.

Re: Playback Volume
How high are the blue waveforms in the Audacity display? You only need to get then to around 50% to achieve a good recording level - see this page in the manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Audacity_Waveform 50% waveform corresponds to a maximum of around -6 dB on the meters. Provided you hav...
