Re: Loading a file
Did you make the original capture recording with Audacity? From your post it sounds as though you didnt - I'm puzzled by your steps LP=>CD=>Audacity The tutorials above that bgravato pointed you at will step you through the "normal" process of doing the whole thing with Audacity (apart fro...
Re: Workflow
... it would be great if I could select the bad section and then give the command "replace by Silence", but I think that is impossible. Sure you can do that: just select the section you don't want and use Edit > Remove Audio > Silence Audio (the keyboard shortcut is Ctrl+L ) WC

Re: Windows 7
I had contacted the HP tech support and according to them ... it is not a problem of the computer or W-7. And I think they are very wrong - it's almost certainly downn to Windows 7, your soundcard and it's associated drivers - Audacity is an absolute slave to the platform that it is running on. The...

There are folk out there who repackage Audacity in an attempt to sell what is basically free, you have probably been conned into downloading one of th...

Re: Windows 7
Not all W7 computers can do this (the manufacturers are doing this to try to thwart piracy) - my wife's new laptop can't, so she had to resort to buying Total Recorder for $17.95 ( you can get it from here: http://highcriteria.com/ ) - she uses Audacity for the rremainder of her processing. This tut...

Re: Stereo sound into Laptop
This set of tutorials willl be a good primer for you: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Tutorial_-_Copying_tapes,_LPs_or_minidiscs_to_CD But the basic answer is yes you can. I use my old turntable with a small phono preamp and my old tape deck both connected to an external USB soundcard to my PC. A...

Re: Timeline -- Change playback position by clicking on it?
Normally you're right not to have truck with Betas - but 1.3.x is now so long in the tooth that 1.3.14 is clearly the best Audacity ever and we can recommend it without hesitation. However when 2.0 finally ships I would certainly avoid them for a while, certainly for any un-reproducible production w...
