Are you in Pause mode rather than Stop mode You need to be stopped and not just paused for editing actions to take effect.

Well actually technicaly thet are correct. 1.2.6 is still the "official" stable release.

I.3.14 is Beta, but a very late mature Beta and is in fact much more stable than the now ancient 1.2.6 which hasn't been upgraded or bug-fixed for years.
