Re: It doesn't record - need help
Probably not Steve - it's running very sweetly and stably right now, but thanks for the thought. There is a spare XP desktop of similar vintage but more RAM going spare at my wife's office so we may just commission that as the second online home machine and dedicate that smaller one to just Audacity...

Re: It doesn't record - need help
my old desktop is still running Audacity (latest Betas and Alphas) on XP-HE-SP3 with only 512MB RAM.
It helps not to be running other processes while it is recording so that audacity doen't get interrupted, as Steve says.

Re: Removing Surface Cruft in Software?
Sometimes people dont want perfection, they just want music to sound like they remember it. Like my son for instance ... When I digitized my old 45s many of which had had a very hard like on our old jukebox, I worked hard to clean them up removing all the pops/clicks etc. When I gave him a copy of ...

Re: Removing Surface Cruft in Software?
On the current title. I've had to truncate a couple tracks where damage was too severe to correct. It's a shame, because it's a really good album (Anita O' Day, "This Is Anita"). You do know you can get that album on CD from Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/This-Anita-ODay/dp/B00000470I ...
