Re: Seeking Help on Streamiling Workflow

Also, since you are working with long files, in case you didn't know, you can jump forward or back (seek) using the right or left arrow keys... You can also jump forward/back to the next/previous label. You need to have focus in the label track and then use Tab to go to next label 0r Shift+Tab to g...

Re: Silent Export

Thanks very much gentlemen. I looked at the Behringer UCA-202 and see it has l/r input and l/r output. I assume that's for "line" signals. And of course, it has the USB connection. But turntables usually have a different output, usually labeled "phono". Does the UCA-202 compensa...

Re: Silent Export

Thanks for hanging in there with me! I just tried recording from a different source: internal sound card, instead of the USB tape player. No distortion at all. None, zero, nichtet, nada, de rien! definitely looks like its the USB carble or ports - or even the USB hardware in your tape device. Since...

Re: New to Vinyl Archiving - needing some tips

My preamp is the ARTcessories DJ-Pre-II - cost is c. US$40 or UK£40 this may work ok with just the soundcard on your PC provived you have a line-in and not just a mic-input (many laptops only have mic inputs) The ARTcessories combined device (Pre-amp plus USB soundcard) is their USB Phono Plus which...

Re: New to Vinyl Archiving - needing some tips

@billdavisone: thast a $40 turntable so I'm not surprised you're not getting hi-fi quality. As you have vinyl LPs I assume that at some stage you had a proper TT and and pre-amp/amp. If you've still got it than you'd be better off using that. I started out with a USB TT but the quality was so poor I...

Re: Seeking Help on Streamiling Workflow

What I do is to use Ctrl+M to mark the current playback postion at the approximate start of a "song" that I want to keep (giving it appropriate text) and then similarly at the "song" (I use the label "ends" to mark each endpoint). Sometimes I will do this in realtime as...

Re: Distortion while recording

I run Audacity successfully on a half meg old desktop, only very slightly faster process than yours at 3.06 gHz and less available disk space than you have - and I have McAfee running - so I'm puzzled :?

You're not using a USB TT or USB soundcard connected via a USB hub are you?

Re: Distortion while recording

Do you have other applications running while you are recording with Audacity ?

Do you have a virus checker running? If so can you configure it to trust/ignore *.aup and *.au files ?

Re: preferences and exporting to itnues

As I was walking home a man stopped me; he said "Have you got a light Mac", I said "No, but I've got a dark brown overcoat...". TBDDDB
