And in 2.0.1 Alpha (only in Windows for now as development is still under way) you can assign effects to hot keys. And as an added benefit we get the ability to assign Analyse menu items to hot-keys too. We expect this functionality to be in the next fromal release of Audacity 2.0.1 later this year....

almost certainly you have inadvertently turned on Snap To

Look at the bottom left of the Audacity Window and uncheck the Snap To box

If you go to File > Open Metadata Editor ... in the dialg box there is a box titled Genres and a button labelled Edit - click on that Edit button and you can add Genres that you require (or delete/change existing entries).
