I can't reproduce that on my Macbook Pro with macOS 11.0.1 Bug Sur with 2.4.2 or the latest alpha test build i have for the upcoming 3.0.0

Nor can I reproduce it my W10 PC

"key-binding" = short-cut

i.e. the keyboard shortcut that you use to invoke the command - the key or keys are "bound" to the command.

Thanks for that backstory 78s - most interesting. Many years ago when I was a teenager I built up a good 78 collection (I ran the records & books stall at my Scout Troop jumble sales - so got first pickings) - including Elvis Sun records and Caruso recordings - but my parents threw them all out ...

So how are you recording (given that you are playing them on wind-up gramophones) what is your recording chain?

Any particular reason why you are not using a modern turntable with a stylus suitable for shellac 78s mounted on the cartridge ?

As a QA tester on Audacity I took a bleeding edge approach an upgraded to Big Sur on day 1 - see my report in this Sticky thread: https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=113946 Basically all 64-bit versions of Audacity 2.3.1 through 2.4.2 work fine on Big Sur - and so does the latest...

Some do - my old Edirol UA-1EX has a gain control (nut sadly it's now discontinued).

IIRC the ARTcessories USB Phono Plus (still in production) does too
