Re: occasional noise
You've not mentioned the word, but does "USB" come into this somewhere? Sorry. Windows 7 on a relatively new, very clean Dell Laptop. I'm using a NAD PP3i analog to Digital converter ... You didn't answer Steve's question directly, but with a bit of googling I see that the PP3i is indead ...

Re: occasional noise
This problem seems to occur when I click "start monitoring". Where do I find this option? I've had a good look through the command menus in my copy of 2.0.1 and did not spot it. Click on the little black triangle next to the microphone icon in the Meter Toolbar and you will see that optio...

Re: Recording multiple LP's
When you are digitizing your LP's, do you use markers in Audacity? I place markers with Ctrl+M as I am recording and then fine-tune their positioning later when I am claening up the inter-track-gaps (proper silence, fades and sometimes a bit of shortening). The I export a set of WAVs based on the l...

Re: Recording multiple LP's
To save file size , if I save in wav format,,should I save as mono instead? You would certainly save filespce like that - but do you really want to throw away the stereo signal that the engineers created in the first place. Storage is comparatively cheap these days, I use a pair of 1TB disks to kee...

Re: Recording multiple LP's
I'm at a total loss to understand why you feel the need to record and edit multiple LPSs in a single project :? Most users who transcribe LPs , myself included, would only ever have one LP per project. In fact I don't store any Audacity projects at all for LP work - I just record one side at a time ...

Re: Quality Settings for CD
waxcylinder: Wouldn't any dither noise be masked by the surface noise inherent in LPs. I thought the noise floor in LPs is certainly quite a bit higher than that of CDs, especially DDD. mdubin Quite possibly - but part of that noise floor is LF runble, usually coming from the TT mech, you can trim ...

Re: Distortion at low amplitude from vinyl LP recording
The clicks can be repaired using Audacity's " repair " (in effects). They can be located using the spectrum view where they appear as spikes ... That's fine if you only have a few clicks and a few LPs - otherwise it gets to be too much hard work. I used to do this manually as Trebor sugge...

Re: Audacity Recording Freeze at 38m 47.5s: Win7
At the moment, reset is done by editing the audacity.cfg settings file Or during install of v2.0.1 if the box is ticked! Indeed, but that's a clumsy way for more experienced users in my view. It's a clumsy, non-intuitive, way for anybody IMO - and that's why Koz keeps asking for an easy cfg reset -...

Re: How to create more than one track
The instructions in the tutorials provided are useless and very confusing. There should be some simple way to make the break between tracks Do you mean these tutorials (from the Audacity Manual): http://manual.audacityteam.org/help/manual/man/splitting_a_recording_into_separate_tracks.html http://m...
