Re: Professional sounding fade out.
I'd happily swap the Pro-fade-out for the current linear "Fade Out" but that would be a regression and therefore not a good thing. But that's effectively what I've done for myself now by replacing my fade-out shortcut to trigger Pro-fade rather tha Fade Out. I'd even more happily chop in t...

Re: Error on sliding time scale/pitch shift
.. I am and have always been happy with XP. I hope to be keeping my xp desktop for a long time but might purchase another one next year with windows 7 just to be safe. You might want to be quick as Windows 8 is due out within the next 12 months. Like you I was very happy to have XP on both my deskt...

Re: Audacity 2.x - More Resource Intensive?
Waxy- Throwing more money at it (buy another computer) is not the solution. Of course if you want to throw the money, I'll give you a Western Union address.<G> Believe it or not some people throw away perfectly good computers when they get a new one -do you have any friends or work-colleagues like ...

Re: Audacity 2.x - More Resource Intensive?
... but if I'm doing other things on the computer I notice that 2.x will trash the audio from time to time while recording, which 1.3x didn't do--with the same hardware and tasks. I suspect the problem lies here -doing other compute-intensive task on the computer can cause interrupts (not always bu...

Re: Importing LPs
Most manufacturers instructions are somewhat lacking - often thay refer to outdated versions of Audacity.

Re: New/improved plug-ins for potential inclusion in Audacit
Meanwhile, back to the original topic of this thread ... I would like to campaign for adding Steve's new "Pro Fade Out" to Audacity's armoury - see this thread: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=66654 I have been using this for a couple of weeks now and finf that it gi...

Re: New/improved plug-ins for potential inclusion in Audacit
Having now read Edgar's tutorial on the draft Vocoder page in the manual and also having re-read this thread I now realize how very difficult it is to use the effect that we currently ship. My vote would be to shipone of the two Easy Vocodesrs with Audacity replacing the cuurrent Vocoder effect - bu...

Re: Reaching for Highest Quality possible in Audacity
The other thing you have to cosider is what you are going to play the resultant material on. 1) I don't know of players taht will pay back 32-bit WAV files 2) If you are planning to burn CDs then you will need to export 44.1 kHz 16-bit PCM stereo WAV files (but you will probably still want to work i...

Re: Normalize and DC offset correction
Footnote: I note that DC removal is sometimes being done in hardware now. My new Tosh W7 laptop with a Realtek card has in its sound services a DC removal option (which is set "on" by default). Afterthought: maybe it's being done in the device driver software - but it's certainly being don...

Re: Professional sounding fade out.
Update: oh, and will you be providing a "Professional Fade In" too? Select intro Effect -> Reverse Effect -> Pro Fade Out Effect -> Reverse You might think I'm kidding, but I've done this sort of thing many times. Cute tip whbjr I used to do similar with Brian Davies' ClickRepair to avoid...
