Re: Professional sounding fade out.
Like Yulac I like the look of it with the sliders - it makes it look like the powerful tool it is. Steve wrote earlier about the difficulties for "rank beginners" - what we have to remember is that this is not a beginner's tool (or even a tool for the low-skilled to average-skilled user). ...

Re: Professional sounding fade out.
It just does not look straightforward or easily comprehensible to me (even though the interface looks simpler now in v26). Were any of the predecessors more comprehensible (GUI apart)? Probably not (I have not tested many of them in any detail - mainly looked at the mockups in this thread). I think...

Re: audio devices
You bet your sweet life that copyright exists on much/most of the material (particularly songs) on those interweb sites. No copyright indeedredbear05 wrote:I was trying to record something from youtube and other internet radio websites. There was no copyrights

Re: Does Audacity 2 allow spacebar play/pause?
Space-bar is already the default shortcut for play (from the current cursor position) Pressing it a second time will start playback again from the current cursor position. P is the default k/b shortcut for Pause (and unpause) - pressing it once will stop at the current playback (or record position)...

Re: Professional sounding fade out.
v26 can replace Cross-Fade In and Cross-Fade out because it provides superior alternatives. Maybe, as long as not too many people use those. But I think there would be a more useful non-GUI Fade Out (Pro Fade Out) and Fade In (to be decided) to have as non-linear alternatives. Like Steve, I don't w...

Re: unable to control input levels
Confirm that the amplifier is connected to the MIC IN of my laptop In which case you are likely to be overloading this - unles your laptop has one of those "magical" inputs that auto-detect signal level and adapt accordingly to mic and line-level signals (most don't). So if that is not th...

Re: unable to control input levels
Everything going well until I started recording from disc. The left channel input level maxes out all the time, while the right channel is more controllable. You can correct for this post-capture with Audacity's Normalize effect (see http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/normalize.html ) - but it wo...

Re: Waveform height
Neither waveform is optimal - the top one is too hot and is clipping (see the red lines) - the bottom one is too low. Ideally you should try to aim for a waveform that maxes out at about 0.5 in the default linear display - this corresponds to about -6dB on the recording meters. You can tweak the sig...
