Re: Record at +50% and change speed after?
Do you (or anyone) have any suggestions as to the most efficient process for doing something like this (and then I'll develop a workflow for the processing work at a later date). For example, might i be best ripping both sides of a disc to one file, naming it something logical and keeping a list of...

Re: Record at +50% and change speed after?
I'm emigrating in around a month and would rather not have to ship 12 flight cases of vinyl due to the cost OK a suggestion: why not do all the raw capture to your computer of the recordings and then do the post-processing at your leisure as and when i.e. after your emmigration? You should be able ...

Re: Can't turn playthrough off when recording
I will poke around as you suggest above and see what happens. Meanwhile here is the screenshot of the menu I was talking about. Yesterday in between dealing with this, I went to record something briefly off the computer (YouTube) which I do all the time. I THOUGHT I had is set right, but got a horr...

Re: Record at +50% and change speed after?
I need to convert around 600 singles on Vinyl into MP3 within the next month ... That's only 20 per day, perfectly doable at normal speeds surely? And anyway recording a 7" 45rpm single of typical length 3 minutes will only save you 2.2 minutes - you still have to do all the post processing wh...

Re: Record at +50% and change speed after?
This page in the manual tells you why you shouldn't consider accelerated recording: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/higher_speed_transfers.html The big issue is that the RIAA Equalization is then appled to the wrong frequencies in your pre-amp. Batch processing (chains) in Audacity is pretty pr...
Re: Bit Rate
You go to File > Export - or File > Export Multiple if you are using labelling to get multiple MP3s In the dialog box you set Save as Type to MP3 You click the Options button In the dropdown dialog you click on the Little-Downward-Pointing-Black-Triangle in the Quality box You select the bitrate you...
Re: Bit Rate
the default MP3 bitrate in Audacity is 128
To change it: on the Export dialog box click the Options button and from the Quality drop-down select the bitrate you want.
Note that Audacity will remeber this settting and use it for all future exports until you change it again.

Re: Cassette to CD - files very quiet
Am I missing a step when I export which will maintain the volume? Before you export the MP3s (and after all your other editing) use the Normalize effect. IIRC the default level is to go to the maximum 0dB but that sometimes causes problems for some players and payer software - so Normalize to say -...

Re: Listing all my Music
Where's Metadata in Itunes? Right click on any song in your iTunes library and select Get Info from the pop-up menu and than click on the Info tab. You can also select a set of songs, typically all the tracks from a particular album, and right click > Get Info to see/change the metadata that is com...
