Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Audio Interface

Searching the forum for "Scarlett 2i2" (in box at top right of page) shows a couple of users who appear to confirm that this box can work ok with AudacityO Oldbear and JVern1987. It's not on our current list of devices known to work well with Audacity - see this sticky thread: http://forum...

Re: Separating tracks on the fly

Or you can position the cursor while recording and press CTRL+B to place a label at the cursor position You can move the label position while playing or recording - drag on the white circle - take care not to drag...

Re: Quality loss exporting .wav and reloading into audacity?

... it seems (at from a quality perspective) audacity projects do not add anything useful, but rather complicate matters (seeing as they proliferate their own directory structures and are not readable or as portable as wav files, and are more susceptible to corruption). It's not really a matter of ...

Re: Quality loss exporting .wav and reloading into audacity?

A couple of other bits of advice relevant to tape transfers: 1) Do clean the tape deck transport mechanism, the capstan and the rubber pinch roller that presses the tape to the capstan - over the years they tend to accumulate oxide dust that is shed from tape usage. Don't use alcohol-based solvents ...

Re: Quality loss exporting .wav and reloading into audacity?

The bottom line here for the relatively straightforward tape transfers is: 1) do all your recording and editing in 32-bit 44.1KHz stereo 2) If you need to store your work while you are working on a particular project - the Save an Audacity Project - this wiil be lossless and you won't get dither app...

Re: Exported Projects

Don't see how it is easier to load Itunes with the metdata, using the created WAV file. It appears you have to load each track with much of the same data contained in each of the tracks. Don't like it much but it look like loading itunes with the AIFF file then use Itunes to create a WAV track, is ...

Re: Recording in stereo

Does the player have RCA leads our as well as the USB - or does it have RCA sockets. If so you should be able to jack-in to your MAc's line in (it does have a line-in?). This will by-pass the soundacrd in your TT/cassette deck and use your MAC's onboard soundcard instead. Or do you by any chance hav...
