Re: Clapping sound problem
As Koz says "You can edit the clapping out assuming it happened before and after the show" or indeed clapping at the beginning or end of each song (which is what I do when transcribing LPs of live performances with extended clapping). Just remove extraneous clapping (the bits without any m...

And that's precisely why Brian Davies has a de-crackle facilty in his ClickRepair softwareSkyline wrote: The noise leading into the tracks is more than just hiss. There's a slight crackle noise there as well. ..

Re: Noise Removal Issue
One thing I noticed, however, is that when I turned on my turntable and simply hovered the needle over the record, my input levels were jumping around -42 to -48 db. That's unusually high, isn't it? *EDIT* Fixed this by turning down the mic slider in audacity and just raising the gain knob *EDIT* I...

Re: Cannot Get FFMPEG Lame to Install
The other important thing to note is that unless you tell it otherwise iTunes will use a virtual library by default. That is it will not actually import the files into its library but will just make reference to where they are stored externally. Which means that if you have that setting then you mus...

Re: Cannot Get FFMPEG Lame to Install
Deep breath ... ok you can use MP3 or AAC in your iTunes library (and in your iDevices as I assume you sync them with your iTunes library). You could use WAV or AIFF or Apples's lossless format but these produce large audio files so you will get a lot lees music on your iDevice. Personally I don't b...

Re: Trouble adding labels at playback position
I thought the shortcut you need for that on a Mac is Command + M (it's certainly Ctrl+M on Windows)

Re: Recording in stereo
Most of us find it easier to record a whole album (or one side of it) in one go and deal with it. You can place labels at each track start point and then use Export Multiple to export a set of audio files - see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/splitting_a_recording_into_separate_tracks.html You...

Re: Noise Removal Issue
Those alignment grids are useful. My SME-3009 arm one came with one when I bought it 40-40 years ago - fortunately I file it carefully with the manual as it's been needed each time I have replaced the cart.

Re: Noise Removal Issue
Can you feel me running out of steam here ... :? 8-) One extra tip for cartridge/stulus vertial alignment not in your Pro=ject manual. Rather then lowering onto and LP groove to check verticality (as your manual suggests) I place a small mirror on the platter and (carefully) lower the arm/stylus ont...

Re: Noise Removal Issue
When "listening to an LP" what is connected to what - and what with? Debut Carbon --> RCA --> Phono Box --> RCA --> Schiit Asgard Headphone Amp to headphones or Onkyo Receiver to speakers. This doesn't give a perfectly black background of course...there's some hiss. It just seems that thi...
