You have probably either clicked on the Envelope Tool or the Multi-Tool in the Tools Toolbar - you just need to click on the Selection Tool (the I-beam) - see this page in the manuals: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tools_toolbar.html

uncheck the snap-to box at the bottom left of your Audacity window.

Yup, it's the big wide (normally unlabelled) key at the middle bottom of your keyboard the one that generates the "space" character when you press it.
