Re: recording vynil lp on audacity using windows 7
I suspect that you are recording side one, pressing stop, turning the record over and pressing record - and what you get is a second track under the first and it mixes in the recording of side 1 with side 2 - right? For a start you need to make sure that Overdub is turned off in the Tracks menu. The...

Re: Suggestions for cheap 24-bit sound recording card
This is the cheapest solution I've found so far, but it has guitar and mic inputs which will be totally wasted for what I want to use it for: http://www.amazon.com/Roland-DUO-CAPTURE-Audio-Interface/dp/B004KCNJPW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1382370722&sr=8-1&keywords=roland+duo+capture This ...

Re: Automatic removal of mouth smacks
I tried noise reduction a few times a while ago and came to mistrust it. I don't really understand how it works. It changed the timbre of leftover sounds. Well you sent me off on a little experimental journey there Paul ... I've habitually used Noise Removal (default settings) on FM broadcasts to r...

Re: Automatic removal of mouth smacks
Have you thought of trying Brian Davies' ClickRepair software for the "mouth snacks", although it's primarily designed to deal with the pops and clicks on LPs but from the way you describe how they look in spectrogram view then there's a reasonable chance that CR might work for you here. I...

Re: Recording with Audacity from turntable
The phono pre-amp that I have is ART DJ-Pre11 which I find excellent I run it through my Edirol UA-1EX external USB soundcard to the PC. ART also make an integrated preamp amd USB soundcard that was not available when I was purchasing - otherwise I would have bought that. Preamp: http://artproaudio....

Oops, I keep forgetting that (because I mainly install from the zips and not the exe)Gale Andrews wrote:So that is not under Audacity's control. If the last installation of Audacity was to an "Audacity is great" folder, that's what the Audacity installer will offer next time.

Re: Which PCs allow recording sound from soundcard?
It is far more important that the laptop has a proper line-in connection, it is something that a lot of people miss after a short while. Easily worked around, if you need line-level input, by buying the relatively cheap Behringer UCA202 (or the UFI202 if you record from vinyl) - which has the advan...
