Re: Recommended phono - usb converter for Windows 7

waxcylinder: I run the Phono plus direct into the sound card in the PC, which worked fine in mono (albeit, the output volume was VERY high, needing the input slider in Audacity to be cut right back to 0.1 - 0.2, even with the 'Gain' control on the Phono plus set to max -10db). Now you've got me con...

Re: Recommended phono - usb converter for Windows 7

I run an Artcessories DJ-Pre-II which is essentially the PhonoPlus minus the ADC & USB services - I feed it to a USB soundcard (Edirol UA-1EX) and then via the USB into the PC and Audacity. This setup has always produced excellent stereo results transferring my vinyl to digital.

Re: How to play an album using 2.0.5

As Gale said, you can monitor (without recording) by clicking in the input meter, the one with the mic (or by clicking on its little-downward-pointing-black-triangle and selecting Start Monitoring ). I've long thought that this is a "well hidden" piece of functionality, not very discoverab...

Re: 50 Year Old Analog Audio Noise Removal Issue.

I also see that under the File menu there is an option called “Save Compressed Copy of Project” and “that there will be some resulting loss of quality.” I don't think you need this functionality - it is there to make reduced size Audacity Projects to reduce archive storage space and to make project...

Re: 50 Year Old Analog Audio Noise Removal Issue.

... Since the end users will most likely be listening to this recording on a CD player, I’m thinking it should be saved as a coda file format ... If you are trying to create a "normal" CD that will play in all CD players then you need to Export 16-bit PCM stereo WAV files - this is (part ...

Your take, Peter, or that of your own mystery shopper? We could do with more input on this. Ok my 2c worth ... Bearing in mind that I have no personal use case for such a tool - I know it could be useful as I have seen related queries on the forum (including one I responded to today). The part I re...

Re: another label track question

What you should be able do is: 1) Export the two label tracks - they will go to Excel files 2) Merge the two Excel files (copy one to the end of the other) 3) Sort the file into ascending time order 4) Import the label file back into Audacity Disclaimer: I have not personally tried this - but it sho...
