Re: Why line-level input is a better option than usb?

I have read the great Audacity tutorial How to Connect Your Equipment . Thank you a lot for the work. However, I wonder why line-level input is a better option. I believe I have an integrated sound card. I heard the video signal may introduce noise into the recording using the 3.5mm input jack. A d...

Re: Lock pan and volume in tracks

I'm minded to agree with Ed here - I think the active regions for the sliders extend too far above and below each slider.

Importing audio from video using FFmpeg

Split from http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=256623#p256623 And if you install FFmpeg you can drag that video into Audacity and it will extract the video's audio for you. At that point you have not lost any audio quality and you have made sure that you won't also record system dings and ...

Re: Lock pan and volume in tracks

In all the years that I have used Audacity, I've accidentally nudged one of those sliders, perhaps once. I'm not convinced that we need this feature at all, but I have no objection as long as it does not inconvenience the millions of users that don't need the proposed feature. I've done it a lot mo...

Re: Lock pan and volume in tracks

How about two new (global) options in "Preferences > Tracks". Enable track gain sliders: (radio buttons) Yes (default) / No Enable track pan sliders: (radio buttons) Yes (default) / No When disabled, the sliders are neither functional or present in the Track Control Panel. When disabled, ...

Re: Clicks/Beeps in Recorded Audio w. Video Examples

I also want to say I really appreciate the responses and support for my issue when the cause isn't directly Audacity. I really enjoy using the program and would honestly pay for it ... Marcus, we always welcome donations (even small ones, it all helps) :) See: http://audacityteam.org/donate/ WC

Re: Lock pan and volume in tracks

+1 for Lock pan and volume in tracks Would that be a global setting (all audio tracks) or a "per track" setting? How would it be shown in the interface? Would the controls disappear, or be greyed out, or just not move? If the user inadvertently locked the sliders, how would they know that...
