Re: New Turntable or new pre-amp?
I would tend to avoid the cheaper AT deck. I started out with an ION iTTUSB - the electronics were fine but the platter was far too light giving noticeable wow&flutter :( I retrieved my Technics SL-150 with SME 3009 arm from the attic and gave it a good home service. I bought it a new cartridge ...

Re: Recording Clarity
I started out making manual repairs with Audacity and then using the Effect>Repair tool to fix them one at a time - effective, but very tedious. Audacity does have a click removal effect but it's not the "best in class" - following a steer from one of the other forum elves, Kozikowski, I t...

Re: Recording with Windows Wasapi
It is looking like that in the next release of Audacity that we may enable the inputs other than loopback for WASAPI.

Re: very low record and play volumes off record player
I have a little hardly noticeable hum (only noticeable at higher volumes). my turntable ground to preamp is good. I'm sure it's my low quality preamp that's doing it. Before you go purchasing anything I would try using a Notch Filter to remove the hum - it's likely to be mains hum at 50Hz in the UK...

Re: very low record and play volumes off record player
do I need a preamp for the turntable and if so why does the cassette player work fine this way :?: Yes you do - you need a phono pre-amp to bring the signal level up to line level and to apply the necessary RIAA Equalization. The cassette player works because it already delivers a line-level signal...

Re: help needed using program
Nothing worked, so returned the unit and will continue to look for another solution. Thanks to everyone who tried to help. Carol Carol, have you still got a decent cassette deck hanging around? If so then you can either connect that directly to a Line-in (not mic-in on your PC - most modern laptops...

Re: Right channel clipped when recording vinyl record
I swapped the left and right RCA plugs from the preamp input and the loud (right) channel doesn't move. So it seems the preamp is the issue, which is disappointing since it's brand new. :( That looks to be the case as this test probably rules out the turntable. Have you swapped over the output lead...

Re: What you hear
AstralSpirit - you fail to tell us what version of Windows and Audacity you are on - if it's W7 or later and Audacicity 2.0.6 (the latest) then the advice above should enable you to record what is playing on the computer. In particular my earlier advice about setting the host to WASAPI and loopback ...

Re: What you hear
Using W7 and latest Audacity your best bet is to set your host to WASAPI and select the loopback input.
