Re: Removing buzz from my audiobook

Ah! Your buzz looks a lot like the LP surface clicks... I ran your samples through "click repair" and got the attached. Click repair is not free software, but it may be worth the $40 to you to save this recording. (If you ever decided to digitize your LP collection it's a very useful tool...

Re: Removing or making nasty spikes less audible?

Brian Davies De-Click stand-alone software is much faster , but not free. [ In some cases Paul-L's de-clicker produces a better result ] I seem to recall that Paul's de-clicker was originally developed for mouth-smacks. What I like about Brian's ClickRepair was that it is a very focussed single-pur...

Re: Problems with the new Noise Reduction replacing Noise Re

... with factory default settings ... Okay, I'll admit it: we chose a bad value for the default. Still we have a much better algorithm for noise reduction now. Why uninstall the program entirely when all you need to do for much better results is push the Frequency Smoothing slider to 6 instead of t...

Re: Removing or making nasty spikes less audible?

You might want to try Brian Davies' ClickRepair - it costs a little but you get a 14-day free-trial - see this sticky thread: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1994 It's what I used for my LP transcriptions, it gave excellent (almost magical) results. One of the great things abo...

Re: 2.0.5 and removing mp3 artifact "glitch"

Oh and thanks for the "nudge" this has given me jaalto - I've started work on a tutorial for various ways of fixing clicks and pops (for the Manual for the next Audacity release), something that's been on my todo list for a fair while now 8-) I got on with this today - see http://manual.a...

Re: 2.0.5 and removing mp3 artifact "glitch"

1) I downloaded your audio clip onto my desktop 2) opened Audacity 3) dragged your audio clip in 4) changed the view from Waveform to spectrogram 5) Ctrl+F to zoom to fit project in window - this is the glitch - this bit's only easy cos I know from experience what I am looking for 7) select around t...

Re: New Users: Video Tutorial Guides

Which Audacity is that? We get people posting on the forum all the time claiming intimate knowledge of an Audacity that hasn't been current in years. And "Aye, there's the rub" t'interweb has scores of video tutorials which well meaning folk create at some point in time and then never bot...
