Re: Link Latency preferences with Hosts

I'm in favour of moving the "Latency" panel into Devices Preferences, then the two values in the Latency panel would depend on host. This would have the advantage of making clear that Audio to buffer affects playback as well as recording, which is currently a very important issue on Mac O...

Re: which is the best setting

As far as I know, in Audacity WASAPI only works in Loopback mode where you are recording the output from your soundcard. That's for recording streaming audio or internal computer sounds (i.e. "What-You-Hear" from your computer speakers.) Actually it depends on you computer and drivers. My...

Re: Marking Song Boundaries

I use point labels rather than range labels. When I was transcribing my LPs I used to clean and properly silence the inter-song gaps and in some cases fades were need too. Then I usually settled for a 2 second inter-song gaps with the label 1.5 seconds after the end of one song and 0.5 seconds befor...

Re: Periodic Click on Audio after Cassette Transfer

Many thanks for the replies. I've tried using playing around with the physical cassette, including tightening the tape as well as taking the reels into another cassette holder without much success i'm afraid. Re: Periodic Click on Audio after Cassette Transfer

Audacity does have a Click Removal effect that operates on all the selected audio not just a single click - see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/click_removal.html But this is not "best-in-class" - Goldwave is reckoned to be good and when I was digitizing my LPs I used Brian Davies' e...

Re: Complete Newbie... HELP!

First question, should I record in stereo or mono... it is only my voice, but other people may want to add music etc afterwards.? Mono should be fine - you can always mix it with stereo music later - but the output then will be mixed to stereo. This tutorial from the Manual should be useful to you:...

Re: Complete Newbie... HELP!

2nd question, Is there a diagram anywhere that says what various buttons etc are, but in plain English... I just don't understand the technical terms? The Reference section of the front page of the Manual is a good place to start - see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/#reference The image is click...
