It is a solid state USB drive, so very fast.
Thanks for the update info.

Which make and model is it please?

Re: Unrecoverable startup error in 2.4.2 and earlier

Once again Jarome thank you so much for alerting us to this issue, very much appreciated :) 8-) I have logged this as a P1 (release blocking) bug: http://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2626 I'm glad you quickly found your workaround and thanks for reporting back with that - a question for...

Re: Unrecoverable startup error in 2.4.2 and earlier

On w10 with 2.4.2 and latest 3.0.0 alpha having the Temporary files directory set on an exFAT formatted USB stick works fine.

So this is just a Mac issue.

Re: Unrecoverable startup error in 2.4.2 and earlier

Curiously enough I've been testing saving to exFAT USB on Mac with 3.0.0 for a large part of today. This working mostly fine - albeit extremely slow. So following your post I tried setting my Temporary files directory to my exFAT USB. With both 2.4.2 and 3.0.0 latest alpha I get Audacity Startup Fai...

Re: Scrolling sometimes jumps in Envelope mode

FWIW: this is the behavior that has existed ever since 1.3.0 (i.e. November 2005)

In 1.2.6 this did not happen - but as we have received no complaints apart from this one in just over 15 years it may be fair to assume that most users are not unhappy with this the way it is :geek:

Re: Undo makes the scrollbar jump

Works for me on W10 1) generate 30 second chirp 2) Select 5-10 seconds 3) Effect Amplify 4) Place cursor at 25 seconds 5) Undo 6) Observe the amplification is undone and selection is 5-10 seconds 7) Redo 8) Observe amplification is restored 9) Observe cursor is replace at 25 seconds (step 4 position...

I have tried creating a test project with the same number of tracks (each containing just a tone) but I can't make that project crash when using 'Fit to Height'.
I have just tried similar on my W10 PC with 2.4.2 - and I can't make it crash either.

Re: My 16 biggest annoyances with Audacity (and the solutions)

15. Cut/paste causing 'ripple' Sometimes in Audacity you have 'independent' potions of audio on the same track, separated by gaps. You can use the Time Shift tool to move these portions left and right, and because they're not connected to the audio on the right, the audio on the right doesn't move....

Re: My 16 biggest annoyances with Audacity (and the solutions)

14. Pasting into blank space The fourth and final of my 'top four' most annoying problems is when you go right down and click on that strip of 'blank space' below the bottom track. Hitting Ctrl+V creates a new track and pastes the clipboard into it. This is a handy feature—in theory! However, in re...

Re: My 16 biggest annoyances with Audacity (and the solutions)

12. Duplicating irritation Now this is probably THE biggest thing that annoys me about Audacity - you duplicate a track (or make a new track) and it appears right at the bottom below the very bottom track! This is so frustrating because you're obviously already working on that track right there whe...
