Re: Effects are all grayed out--why?
Wish the video tutorials for beginners mentioned that at the beginning. We don't provide any of those video tutorials - it would be far too much work for our very small documentation team to maintain and update those. Most of those videos are using well out of date versions of Audacity and c...

Re: Effects are all grayed out--why?
As you can see from the earlier posts in this thread this has been a long-standing bear-trap for users to fall into. I still sometimes fall in and I've been using Audacity for many years now. I would prefer it if Audacity just ignored the fact that Audacity was in Pause state and acted as though the...

Re: Sensible defaults could make Audacity a lot better
Yet, Audacity shows 32 bit in the left pane of the main window. That is extremely confusing. I agree, I think that should be hidden from users, because: (a) it is (as you say) confusing. (b) may not actually be true. If that is indeed the case, does this feature request boil down to removing the te...

Re: Sensible defaults could make Audacity a lot better
Practical use case for 32-bit float: Mid production, I want to make lossless backups of my valuable tracks. I export as 32-bit float WAV. Practical case 2: Impulse files for convolution effects. Practical use case 3: we actually recommend its use for archiving/backup a high quality copy of the raw ...

Re: Waveform antialiasing
Audacity (with standard settings) is already misleading ... Newbies might think they have plenty of headroom if they look at the waveform. Indeed they do - just that (I did when I started out when I knew no better) - just take a look at the many "Audacity" tutorials on the interweb and fa...

Re: Confusing interaction track and global Spectrogram setti
It's too complicated now, IMO ;) +1 my thoughts entirely. 8-) I was certainly very confused when I was testing it last week (or should I say trying to test it). :? And if we're getting confused and tangled up - how are civilian users supposed to manage :o Which is why I proposed earlier in this thr...

Re: Save default Effect's values and other default stuff
For those that don't save their last used settings, a workaround is to create a "Chain" containing just that one effect, with the settings that you want to repeat. You can then run the effect at any time, with those settings, by running the "Chain". See: http://manual.audacityte...
