Re: Windows 10, Did I stumble upon a fix?
If I can, I'd like to try and re-install the latest version of AUDACITY along side the older version, if that can be done. Yes that can be done - I have dozens of different versions of Audacity (released and alpha test versions) on my laptop. Just install each one in a differently named folder - us...

Re: recording vinyl via usb turntable only get one channel
There may not be any analog phono preamps any more. How about the ARTcessories DJ-Pre11 which I have: http://artproaudio.com/artcessories/turntable_preamps/product/djpre_ii/ Still available readily on Amazon (other retailers are available ...) - and does have a grounding post and a gain control wit...

Re: Verdict on the settings for new Noise Reduction?
The extreme should in any case be higher - 10 or 12. If I'm correct, 6 is approx. 150 Hz and we used up to 500 Hz in the old effect. This might not be necessary anymore with the partially new algorithm but who knows. What about a track with 16 kHz sample rate? +1 Even if it's not strictly "nec...

Re: Can't Edit Files
Try pressing the Stop button rather than the Pause button - edits don't work when you are paused rather than stopped and there is no obvious visual cue or error message to alert you as to what is going on. There is a proposal in the Audacity Wiki for editing actions to take place when paused - see h...

Re: Strange noises on telephone
Curiously there was an article on BBC Radio 4 (You and Yours) today about just such "interference" on a land-line phone. This was die to villains hi-jacking the landline and diverting it to their cellphone - in that instance to try to gain access to the victim's bank account - so be wary. WC

Re: Suggestion
So I still favour allowing customisation of Transport Toolbar for extra buttons and completely flexible button order. Gale, do I assume that by "customization" you mean the ability to remove and add buttons in the toolbar? Yes. Ideally I would see it that you would open a customize dialog...

Re: Suggestion
One of the things I really dislike currently is the way some buttons change when the modifier keys Shift and Ctrl are held down (often not appropriate to the particular task in hand). I agree but at least one developer thinks that modifier keys changing buttons should be retained because it makes a...

Re: Basic questions re: Zphono and Audacity
I agree with most everything Doug says - but I only Amplify to -2.0 dB (not all players and payer software play nicely with 0 dB maxed-out files - but having said that, most do). Nor do I find the LP transfers dull or un-bright. Before any of that, I start with Wave Repair ($30 USD) to remove clicks...

Re: Suggestion
I would like to suggest there should be a button on the GUI for the Shift+A Stop and set cursor function http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/transport_menu.html#set Jack, my interim workaround while this and other proposals for dealing with the same issue is to replace the existing shortcut Shift+...
