+1 to keeping it simple

+1 to making what-you-hear-is-what-you-get to being the default (so newbies and the inexperienced aren't bear-trapped)

The sophisticated users who like the current behaviour should be readily available to work out how to reset it to their particular needs.

We could perhaps have the "mixing" commands in a new "Tracks > Mix and Render" sub-menu. This would retain existing keyboard shortcuts and allow us to provide more mixing options without extending the Tracks menu. The sub-menu could include: Mixdown Track(s) Mixdown to New Track...

I know. But when the Record volume slider bug gets fixed in the latest program, I will download it again. Who knows how long that might take. It might take a lot longer than you think ... For a start it's not registered as a bug on our Bugzilla tracking system. Furthermore I don't think it's a bug ...

Another way around this would be to have a couple of new Tracks Preferences
1) Respect/ignore mute on mixdown
1) Respect/ignore solo on mixdown

But I prefer the idea in my previous post of a dialog-driven command with selectable options as it makes it clearer to the user what is going on.
