Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection

OK, but this is only consensus of the small group discussing it here. My concern was about getting a consensus among others (mostly developers). For that purpose I thought a Spectral Selection Tool could be too controversial. I'm sorry but I don't buy this either ... This may right now only be a &q...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection

If it was down to me, short term, I would have a Spectral Selection button in Edit Toolbar that turned Spectral Selection on and off, and get rid of the Spectral Selection checkboxes. Both Peter and I have previously argued in favour of this. I still agree that it looks like a big improvement to wh...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection

As I restated them three days ago... I'm an old bloke, I forget stuff ;) and I get tired of goung back and re-reading this long thread ... First P2. "Enabling Spectral Selection Toolbar does not enable Spectral Selection". You (Peter) opposed that P2. And I'm still very much against that ...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection

Gale,

this thread has become long and confusing (I can't remember what I "actively opposed") ...

Perhaps you could write down here what it is that you would like to post as P2s and then we can continue the discussion from there.

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection

If it was down to me, long term, I would have Spectral Selection always on in Spectrogram view... I would be reasonably happy with that if and only if spectral selections were only available in a spectral view and were removed (changed to a strictly temporal selection) if and when the user switched...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection

I understood that you often look at Spectrogram view to see clicks then delete the entire selected click (rather than filter just the click out of the selection). I used to, but only occasionally and never since Koz steered me to the magic of Brian Davies' Click Repair ... So, is the other suggesti...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection

The real task will be getting it past Paul, I guess. I'm sorry but I just dont buy that  I know this is a do-ocracy and all that - and that Paul made the initial do-ocratic implementation - BUT he does not own it. We all share ownership of this project, it reflects on all of us. And one of ou...

Re: USB turntables excessive output

My ION ittUSB USB record deck did have a gain control - but in a very unergonomic place - it was a small knurled knob underneath at the back. The deck gave very poor results though as the platter was far too light, yielding very noticeable amounts of wow&flutter. So I ditched in favour of rercyc...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection

You (Peter) will have to decide if you are backing Steve's idea for a special tool to draw time-with-frequency selections. I'm not really the right person to ask about this as such a tool (or any spectral editing come to that) will most likely never be used by me - so I don't really have a dog in t...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection

I assume you agree it's a mess, right? Yes. i don't think it should have gone out of the door as it is. +1 to that Which is a great pity as I'm sure the underlying technology is very useful to some folk (there are parallels here with scrubbing) It does not show us in a good light to ship such half-...
