Well that image was created on my W10 laptop with Audacity default settings. The only changes were the window moved inwards from the right a little to reduce the image size a tad and a similar squeeze at the bottom. Plus I added the stereo audio track and the label track. I don't think you're using the term "pause" in the same sense as classichenry means. Yes it does "pause" provided that you don't move the mouse. If you try to click the stop button, then scrubbing will start again until you click on the stop. Yes you can press the spacebar to st...

I've worked with a number of other programs and Audacity is the first I've encountered where you can drag the scrub bar and the program assumes the user wants the play to continue, rather than pause at the dropped location until the next time the user hits play.
