I'm running macOS Sierra 10.12.6 I confirm that with Audacity 2.1.3 using the right-click > Get Info > Open with or just using right-click > Open With on the audio you do just get Audacity opening but failing to import the audio file. However..... testing on the latest alpha nightly for Mac this app...

Koz is right - I have the Artcessories DJ-Pre11 - used with an Edirol UA-1EX souncard (great results with my LP conversions).

IIRC BillW has the Artcessories USB Phono Plus - which is basically the DJ-Pre11 wit an onboard USB soundcard in the box.

Yepper Command and sliding finger up/down on my Magic Mouse does the zooms

In the upcoming 2.2.0 release we've remove that clock button from the Edit toolbar - so it should be a lot harder to accidentally invoke sync-lock.

In 2.2.0 it moves to become a menu item at the bottom of the Tracks menu.

I didn't have this with previous Audacity versions. If either Audacity 2.1.3 or 2.2 becomes reality, I hope to see that fixed. 2.1.3 was recently released on 17th March. See this sticky Forum post: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=95279 I don't think that bug has been fixed or...
