Just tested it on the proper 2.2.0 release version on my W10 Home laptop and indeed the same happens.

I'll be logging this on our bugtracker (probably tomorrow as I have a gig to go to very shortly).

Am I right in thinking that you are working with single track proects - and you are not multi-tracking? If so then I would recommend exporting to WAV files rather than using projects (you can always reimport WAV files into Audacity for later processing).
