Please test with Audacity 2.2.0. For Audacity 2.2.0, the opposite seems to be the case: .WAV is set as the default extension for all other uncompressed files, including AIFF, AU, WAVEX, W64 .. each of which has their own file extension ... I cannot reproduce that on W10 CE with either the released 2.2.0 or or on the alpha for the upcoming 2.2.1

Logged as P2 bug 1784 Silencing an audio selection that crosses a split causes an "Internal error ..." https://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1784 And now looks to be fixed in the latest alpha - I can only test on Mac right now (but confident of the fix) will test on Windows so...

BTW - that little target os no worse really than the small box target I have at the bottom right of my Windows screen to minimize all windows and show the desktop

How about a double-click on the track name - or an additional entry in the TCP dropdown menu for "Select Track"

Well, like Steve, I've used Audacity for over ten years and done a lot of QA testing and documentation - and the behavior with the Stop button is as Steve describes and shows in his little vid. I note that the Manual does not explicitly say this - but I will fix that. It is possible the temporarily ...
