Re: why there is no effects check box (list ) !!
thanks waxcylinder, i know that but i was talking about effects box , all effects you use you can make them a preset! not every one alone Ah I see what you are driving at now ... A while back we did some experiments with an Effects Rack which I think was to do the job you describe - but the develop...

Re: First application of effect is being unnecessarily delay
Curiouser and curiouser - I get puzzlingly conflicting results Testing with a one hour stereo project 1) Working with the non-spinning SSD - 2.0.6 EQ is 50% slower than 2.1.3 thru 2.2.0 All those later versions take a consistent 12 seconds to process the EQ - whereas 2.0.6 takes a consistent 18 seco...

Re: First application of effect is being unnecessarily delay
Trebor,
I'll try to find some time for timing tests on versions 2.0.6 thru to 2.2.2 RC1
But My initial quick test on 1h 45m of stereo audio looked quite quick to me - but I work with a non-rotating SSD

Re: New track name overlay color
You could try switching to Audacity's Dark theme - the yellow track-name text is more readable in that theme
Go to Edit > Preferences and choose Interface
and the in the Theme dropdown, select Dark
You can always revert to the default Light theme if you don't like the dark

Re: Opening Files
I cannot reproduce this on W10 with Audacity 2.1.1 (current released version).
I too have many sub-levels of directory for my project storage taxonomy - and for me when in the Open dialog it always backs up just the one level at a time.
So I'm confused by your report.

Re: Editing backing tracks
For the sample tracks: 1) record your backing track 2) create a new track and select it (empty) 3) Use Generate > Rhythm Track to generate a click track (or whatever) 4) Press Play to hear the result (the two tracks will be played together 5) You can use Effect > Amplify to adjust the relative loudn...
