Re: Getting Started: No Device listed
If Windows can't see it - then Audacity won't be able to see it. Windows may have "hidden" it. Go to Sound in your Windows Control Panel and click on the Recording tab Can you see your device? If not - right-click in the white space in that dialog and check on Show disabled devices If it s...

Re: Scroll wheel zoom? And where did Check Dependencies go?
Help > Diagnostiscs > Check Dependencies Which I would have found if the Manual was searchable. Tell me about it  It's a long story, is searchable ... And yes I know the Index is sparse (it was worse a while back, I found a bit of time to improve for that last release 2.2.2) If I can't...

Re: Scroll wheel zoom? And where did Check Dependencies go?
2. On earlier versions, Check Dependencies... was on the File menu. Where did it go? Help > Diagnostiscs > Check Dependencies In the front page of the Manual there is a link near the top for "What's new ..." Which for 2.2.2 takes you to: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/new_features_in...

Re: Converting tape to MP3
So have you followed the Mac instructions in the Check operating system settings on this page: https://alphamanual.audacityteam.org/man/Error_opening_sound_device and if so do you Mac settings match your Audacity settings ? I can see from reviews of your device on Amazon that folk have had that same...

Re: Converting tape to MP3
The second tutorial does not say a word about converting tape to MP3 the first tells: - "Help > Diagnostics > Audio Device Info... should show the rates the device claims to support." In Help, there are no "diagnostics"/ - Try turning off Transport > Transport Options > Software...

Re: Save Noise Profile
I can see Koz' point here - but I would prefer it to be able to store several noise profiles for recall and use e.g. 1) Room noise floor 2) BBC FM carrier hiss 3) Website carrier hiss Rather like we can save/restore many EQ curves for deployment in the Equalization effect But I too would like to see...

Re: Chains
I don't think 2.2.2 (and earlier) Chains can do that.
But in the upcoming 2.3.0 the new Macros can do that with Macros capable of calling other Macros
I tested that out a month or so ago when I was QA testing for James
Peter.
