Re: plugin vs recording software

My question is: Is there a difference in quality/ability using the plugin within Izotope vs Audacity, or is all the heavy lifting being down purely by the plugin? AUdacity uses the izotope plug-ins (when you have them available - the plug-ins are doing the heavy- lifting Izotope is rather expensive...

Re: Edit>Labelled Audio>everything greyed out

You're probably stuck in the bear-trap of being in Pause mode - Press the Stop button and try again - does that work?

This is one of the many improvements that we have made in later releases - Pause no longer locks you out of doing stuff ...

Re: Collapsed track only shows half the wave

Stick with the released 2.2.2 for now and go to Edit > Preferences choose the Tracks tab then and uncheck Use half-wave display when collapsed - hey presto: you get full collapsed waves ... And BTW the upcoming 2.3.0 is pretty near to release now and not much is different just some cool new stuff ad...

Re: I would like to modify the Timer feature.

James, this is the primary thing that Emorogork wants: https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=100541&p=351524#p351524 basically repetitive (n times) hourly recordings with exports Also I think he, like me, would like access to the controls white Timer Record is actively recordin...

A noble request it is but I might propose a much simpler approach and a smaller step...

Re: Getting into serious editing audio as I have with video

Unless it can be developed to start and stop hourly, and maybe with the capability to name tracks automatically, it is just a novelty for me and not of much use. What you really need is this proposal (that I wrote a long time ago) implementing: https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Proposal_Multi-even...

Re: Getting into serious editing audio as I have with video

I believe that I was told that Audacity does not have Mark-In and Mark-out. That is why I am using memos. (^m) They are good until you cut or add which will set the two tracks out of sync but they are good for an edit, easily moved as needed.. You can keep the two (or more) tracks, including label ...

Glad you got it working - and glad the Manual was that good source of information :)

Re: How to fade effects in and out

Select the first 10 (or X) seconds, use click&drag in the waveform - then use Effect > Fade In Select the last 10 seconds - then use Effect > Fade Out You may prefer (I do) to use - then use Effect > Studio Fade Out for a more "professional" fade. See: https://manual.audacityteam.org/m...
