Re: Timer recording works well but...
Does a vote help to encourage someone to write the code? Not nexessarily - but once a Feature Request gets 20 or more votes - it gets promoted to the Highest Rated FRs tablehttps://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Feature_Requests#Highest-rated_Feature_Requests so it gets a bit more exposure. Having a pr...

Re: Timer recording works well but...
Not in my case. I record 26 hours at a clip, twice every weekend. The timer allows for unattended start at midnight Saturday morning and ends 2:00 am Sunday morning. During that time, I want to mark the recording to identify points of interest for easier editing and review. To stop the timer would ...

Re: Can't import m4A
I am using Mac Mojave version 10.14.4 beta I installed the latest version of Audacity ( 2.3.0 ) Audacity 2.3.0 is know to crash on 10.14.4 beta (beta operating systms or beta applications are not a wise choice for production work - they are always intended as test-beds) . This issue is fixed in the...

Re: Can't import m4A
It also said this version was not compiled with Quicktime support. That's because, in the absence og the FFmpeg library, Mac is trying to be "helpful" by trying to use Quicktime - and not succedding. It's not a very insightful or helpful error message (and I have logged a bug report for t...

Re: Very slow response on large files
It all depends on how slow or fast your PC is. I regularly work on two hour projects - with my old laptop with its spinning meta hard disk Zoom to fit was similarly slow to your experience - but with my new hi-spec SSD laptop it is really qick to Zoom to fit a two hour (or even longer) project. Auda...

Re: Can't import m4A
the 64-bit FFmpeg libraries are only for the upcoming 2.3.1 (and subsequent releases) as this will be the first 64-bit build of Audacity for Mac.
For 2.3.0 you will need the 32-bit version which you should find lower down the page on that download site.

'sOK
we just rejigged that external site to put the 64-bit libraries at the top as we are soon to realise 2.3.1 which, on Mac, will be 64-bit (and needs the 64-biy libraries).
