Thanks for that clarification - and for reopening the bug Steve.
I added my simple test from earlier in this thread to the Bug thread.

Re: RecordingFixedDuration
Workaround is to add new empty audio track (or even an empty label track) before making the selection in the Selection Toolbar at step 3 - then the time set in the Selection Tollbar will be honoured for the recording.

Re: RecordingFixedDuration
I presume that you mean tis section on this page: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/recording.html#duration Where it indeed says: Drag-select a region in an existing audio track - or choose the time range to be recorded in Selection Toolbar . I confirm that using the simple steps you outline do no...

Re: digitizing albums

Re: Can I avoid confirmation pop-up before closing a file?
Well, if you adopt my suggestion (last para of my previous post) you may not need to do so again. ;) We have discussed this many times on the Audacity team and the consensus has always been to err on the side of safety and retain this warning with no option to permanently turn it off. This is to av...

Re: Cannot import or open m4a files to audacity
I think that in the absence of FFmpeg Mac tries to be "helpful" and use QuickTime - and that no longer works Which leads to the unhelpful error message reported in this bug: https://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2068 And we've fixed that unhelpful error message for the upconmi...

Re: Export to project directory
Click on the little downward pointing chevron in the white box immediately to the right of your dropdown menu in the Export Audio dialog (to the right of the "Where:" input field). This will expand the Mac export dialog for you - you should then be able to find and choose your new folder. WC

Re: iTunes cannot play aac file created by Audacity 2.3.1
Or
1) Export from Audacity as WAV
2) Import the WAV into iTunes
3) Use iTunes to convert the WAV to AAC

And for now SimpleSynth the app that we recommend for getting MIDI playback in Audacity on Mac still works OK - but it is a 32-bit app.kozikowski wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2019 9:28 amThat's good to know. I still have older, valuable 32-bit apps.even the older 32-bit versions of Audacity seem to run OK
