Re: 3.0.0 freezes during compression on a 4 hour file
For Nyquist plug-in effects, there's a bug in Audacity 3.0.0 that causes them to silently fail on long tracks. In most cases (but not all cases) that is tracks longer than about 45 minutes. This has been fixed for the next version of Audacity (3.0.1) which is scheduled for release next month. The w...

Jack, is it totally reproducible - can you formulate Steps to Reproduce ?Jackferwerda wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 10:32 pmFYI this is happening to me very much like the others. I reinstalled the program and it didn't seem to make a difference. Is it better to just use the older version of Audacity then?

Re: Audio Glitches in Audacity 3.0.0
I get no glitches with 3.0.0 (nor with the latest alpha test builds I have for the upcoming 3.0.1)

Re: Audacity 3.0.0 on Windows 10 struggling
I did a *lot* of QA speed testing on both. W10 and macOS 11.2.3 Big Sur to ensure that we weren't suffering performance degradation with 3.0.0 versus 2.4.2 The only thing that we know can be slower is closing projects and exiting Audacity - as the new project database structure does its clean-up com...

Re: Sound Deterioration after Multiple Edits
Surely the point is that any one of these ideas would do the trick - so how do we get a developer interested? "Aye, there's the rub..." I have had some successes lobbying developers over the years - but it's always very hard work and takes a long time. Part of the problem is that right now we only ...

Re: Sound Deterioration after Multiple Edits
Consider that experienced Audacity users have learned to click on "white space" in the track control panel to select a track. And then they see all of that wonderful real estate right above/below/between the track and gain sliders. I wonder if that is at the root of the problem. That's one o...

Re: Sound Deterioration after Multiple Edits
Hi Mike
a cute idea - but sadly for me personally, not only would I have to remember to run it I'd also have to remember to reload the Macro as I trash the entire contents of my Audacity settings folder several times ever day so that I can QA test with OOTB factory settings

Re: Sound Deterioration after Multiple Edits
waxcylinder suggests disabling the sliders in your preferences... An alternative would be to tighten the clickable region along the sliders so that you have to click on the line for it to take effect I like your suggestion. :D Glad you like that John. I even wrote a formal proposal for this a while...

Re: Move Audacity to new computer
And, I usually keep my hidden folders visible. I've always been that way. (I also show filename extensions.) Always a good plan I think (it's on my Excel ToDo list for when I get a new PC) I have no idea why Microsoft (and Apple) thinks it's a good thing to hide folders an extensions  Peter.
